1.4.9: Images of Text (No Exception)

What it means

Images of text are not allowed except for logos or when users can customise the text presentation themselves. This is the strict AAA version of the images-of-text rule.

If it is not a logo, it should be real text.

How to fix it

• Convert all non-logo text graphics to HTML or SVG text.
• Do not use screenshots of paragraphs, quotes, or buttons.
• If users can customise appearance (font, colour, size), document that exception.
• Audit marketing pages for text baked into hero images.

• Good: Only the brand logo is an image; quotes and stats are HTML text.
• Bad: Customer testimonials are JPEG screenshots of tweets.
• Good: An infographic offers a full text alternative listing every statistic.
